Military legal advisor in Afghanistan (2008-2009). Mentored the regional court and legal staffs of the 209th Corps of the Afghan National Army, Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan. Advanced the rule of law through daily training and coaching of Afghan judges, trial counsel, investigators, and leaders. Also reviewed over $10 million in reconstruction projects and opened the first military courthouse and confinement facilities in Afghanistan.
Senior legal counsel to the Texas Air National Guard (2003-2008). As a reservist, advised commanders on the legal aspects of military operations under state and federal law, including disciplinary matters, employment law, government ethics, disaster response, and support to civilian authorities. Oversaw the operations of three subordinate legal offices.
